TROUBLESHOOTING

Get back to building.

Common setup, build, editor, and connection issues.

“Compiler not found.”

Build the repository first. The native tools live in build/bin. In Studio, choose the compiler path in settings. For CLI tooling, set CHUD_COMPILER or use the default development build.

LLVM or Windows tools are missing.

Set CHUD_CLANG to clang.exe, add it to PATH, or use the optional bootstrap. For missing headers or linker tools, install the C++ workload and Windows SDK in Visual Studio Installer.

“Unsupported type” or unexpected syntax.

Check the implemented language subset. Design examples for future features do not compile yet. A build failure returns nonzero; an old executable on disk is not evidence that the new source compiled.

Multiple Main functions.

Keep exactly one entry point across src. Top-level statements create an implicit Main, so they cannot be mixed with an explicit Main in another source file.

Discord stays disconnected.

Open the Discord desktop app, enable the Studio toggle, and save. Studio retries automatically. If a custom application is selected, turn it off to use the built-in identity. Check your Discord activity privacy settings if connected presence is not visible to others.

ChudGPT is unavailable.

A model info endpoint may respond while inference is offline. Busy, HTTP, timeout, and cancellation errors are surfaced in chat. Check the selected model and API base URL. Studio’s editing and native build features continue to work offline.
